Thoughts on Money
I have enough money.
I think it's difficult for any type of global food trade (perhaps even any global trade) to be ethical — especially in a capitalist economic system where most farmers/workers don't own the means of production and we can't directly engage with them to know their life/work conditions.
Here's how I aim to produce/source my food: grow (and preserve for the winter) as much as I can. Whatever I can't grow, I get from these sources (listed by preference): a neighbor's yard, Stone Barns, local farmer's market, local grocery store.
I also aim to learn more about what foods can be foraged locally. And, I recently learned about cooperatively owned grocery stores, yet to visit one: https://grocery.coop/why-co-ops
